The wind turbines work in a very simple and efficient manner where the energy in the wind turns the blades around the rotor. The rotor is then connected to the shaft which further spins the generator to create electricity. Wind turbines are classified in two categories: vertical axis and horizontal axis turbines, based on their rotor structure. Vertical axis wind turbines have a main shaft that is perpendicular to the direction of the wind stream whereas the horizontal axis wind turbines have a main shaft that is placed along the direction of the wind stream. A wind turbine usually consists of three main parts which are known as the blades, shaft, and generator.
