Drone technology is expected to be applied in various commercial and government applications with the horizon expected to expand further in the next 10 years. Various companies including Uber Eats have recently tested packaged food delivery using BVLOS flights. Such operations have been developed involving the engagement of 4G connectivity for establishing the communication between the drone and controller. The proprietary airspace management system guides drone flights to take off, fly and land autonomously. Kansas and North Dakota have legalized the setup of steering the first-ever, beyond visual line-of-sight UAS flight which employs only onboard detect-and-avoid systems.

In the field of maintaining law and order, California Police Department has been working closely with regulatory bodies to initialize drone integration across industries using this technology.

For powerline inspections, BVLOS is finding increased number of applications with time. One such example has been marked in Canada where Canadian UAVs Inc. and Lockheed Martin CDL Systems have successfully operated BVLOS drones for power line and pipeline inspections.
